"I couldn't be more excited that Nightmares! has found a home at Random House. Deadline reports that Segel first started the book as a movie project, but reverse-adapted it into a book after the script went into turnaround. Nightmares! is an adventure story about kids who realize they must save their town from fear, which has been manifested in the form of nightmare creatures. He also worked on the scripts for (and starred in) The Muppets and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Segel is known for his film and TV work, including Freaks and Geeks, How I Met Your Mother and I Love You, Man.

The books will be co-written with author Kirsten Miller.

Random House announced Wednesday that it will publish Segel's trilogy of books called Nightmares!, targeted to middle-schoolers and scheduled for release in fall 2014 by Delacorte Press. Now, he is making his debut as an author. Jason Segel has starred in movies and TV, has written music and screenplays, and has produced for the big and small screens.
