As the don of the Italian mafia, he runs the city alongside the Russian Bratva, the Irish mob, and the Yakuza and the four leaders will do anything to anyone in order to keep things running the way they see fit. Scarlotta Romano is nothing more than a pawn in her uncle’s schemes.

Syndicate of Sins is the second book set in the Toxic Paradise world, so there may be some book one spoilers in this review. Thank you to Marie for an advance copy of Syndicate of Sins!!! The slow burn mysteriousness of this dude has me so interested in getting to his story. We get some more Devil time, which is great. And then of course, the spice! While there is less than in book one, there’s still plenty of hot scenes between all core members of the story up to this point. We go to a circus, we attend a vampire ball, we hang out in an occult shop, we trade stories with pirates, it’s all there. This story literally has everything you want in a dark fantasy romance story.

As for Blythe, she is the perfect blend of strong and vulnerable. On top of those two tricks, she also did develop each of them into their own person with their own quirks and demons (pun intended). Sometimes with reverse harem/poly stories it can be hard to distinguish between the characters and giving them each their own full personality and Kat handled this so well, by not only making them all different ‘monsters’ but also giving us a more in-depth look at each character separately rather than giving us everything up front, especially concerning Devil. I am not really a paranormal or monster romance person, but I am so in love with this series. Gear up for adventure, pirate ships, a vampire party, with lots of spice and angst thrown in the mix! Also, now that the curse is broken he’s finally free to try and figure out what happened with his parents and discover his past. His vampire side is struggling so hard with staying cordial and polite with Blythe. Now that the curse is broken and Ash Grove is freed, it’s time for Blythe to adjust to her new life as death, while navigating both, her achieved status as archdemon Ames’ love as well as figure out her uncertain relationships with Onyx, Wolf, and the elusive Devil. Since this is a direct sequel to Ghost, there may be spoilers. Thank you so much to Kat for an advance copy of Dragon, book two in The Halloween Boys series.
